From check-in to shared direction: a new feature in Yhdessä

What should we talk about today? Sometimes you have time together but still struggle to get started. The new Connection feature in Yhdessä helps you find a topic you both want to make room for.
It brings together a five-question check-in, a summary of the cards you have discussed and a goal for trying a regular conversation routine. You do not need a long plan to begin: just a moment together.
1. A five-question check-in: what do we need right now?
On the Connection screen, you can assess together which topics you would like help discussing: money, sex and intimacy, communication, everyday life and dreams. For each topic, choose the position on the scale that fits your situation.
If you see things differently, listen to each other first. The check-in itself can be a chance to notice what matters to your partner. You can exclude a topic from suggestions by saying you do not need help with it right now. You can also pause and continue later.
Based on your responses, the app suggests topics and matching packs. You stay in control: choose a suggestion or pick another theme. Access to a locked pack may require an in-app purchase.
2. A summary of the conversations you mark as completed
The summary uses the cards you mark as discussed. It shows the topics you have covered, the number of different cards you have discussed and cards you have returned to. Skipping a card is different from marking it as discussed.
The check-in snapshot reflects your own assessment of where you want help with conversation. It changes when you repeat the check-in, not automatically as the card count grows.
The summary does not listen to your conversations or know what you said to each other. It does not score your relationship or determine whether it has improved. It helps you see the topics you have explored and choose a starting point for next time.
3. A small, repeatable conversation goal
On the Connection screen, you can start a four-week experiment. The app suggests two conversations of about 15 minutes each week, on different days: eight conversation days over four weeks.
After starting the experiment, a day counts when you mark at least one card as discussed. Discussing several cards on the same day still counts as one day. The app does not measure conversation length or quality.
The idea is to make room for listening. Four weeks and 15 minutes are a suggested rhythm, not a promise of a particular result. Afterwards, you can reflect together on how it felt to listen and express your needs.
How to get started today
Keep your first shared moment simple:
- Open Connection in the app and complete the five-question check-in together.
- Choose one suggested topic that you both want to discuss.
- Pick one to three cards. Take turns and describe in your own words what you heard.
- If you like, agree on one small everyday experiment, such as a quiet moment together without phones.
- Mark the cards you discussed as completed and return to the summary when you want to continue.
Your conversations stay with you
Connection history, check-in responses and the practice period are stored locally in the app on this device. Your spoken answers to the cards are not recorded, and Connection data is not sent away for analysis. You can also delete Connection data while keeping your favourites.
You do not need to cover every topic at once. Choose a conversation that feels right to both of you today. Sometimes the most useful goal is simply to notice that the other person has something to say and give them time.
